Rapper and actor Common is a performer who takes his roles seriously. But his latest screen appearance may be upstaged by 11-year-old actor Michael Rainey Jr.
The two stars of the movie “LUV,” which opens January 18th, join The New York Post’s Name Check with Michael Riedel to discuss the movie — and give the host some lessons in Italian.
In the movie, Rainey Jr. plays the role of Woody Watson, a timid Baltimore orphan who dreams of a better life. Common plays Woody’s uncle Vincent, a street hustler and former drug dealer.
When Vincent bypasses his nephew’s school one day and offers to show Woody how to handle street business, Woody jumps at the opportunity to join his uncle on a field trip of life lessons.
The movie also stars Charles S. Dutton, Dennis Haysbert, Danny Glover and Michael Kenneth Williams.
